Our Diamonds

Beautiful. Rare. Cherished.

There is no gemstone quite like a diamond. Each one is unique.
And each has specific qualities that establish its value. Diamonds, whether Earth Minded or Lab Grown are graded by assessing the four C's of diamond quality: Cut, Colour, Carat, Clarity.

At The Diamond Shop we take great pride in the quality and standards of our diamonds. Our diamonds are sourced internationally and are hand selected and analysed meticulously by our own internal diamond experts.

We specialise predominately in diamonds graded D, E, F colour, with a clarity no lower than an SI2.

The cut grade of our diamonds are the highest cut grades possibly given to a diamond, which guarantees its brilliance and overall appearance being exceptional in any light. All our diamonds above 0.70 carat are internationally certified, by world leaders in diamond grading. All certified diamonds are laser inscribed on the girdle of the diamond with the international certificate number, which is another guarantee of what you are purchasing.

The Diamond Shop offers our clients the choice of either natural earth mined diamonds and lab grown diamonds.

What is the difference between natural and lab-grown diamonds?

Natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds share the same physical and chemical properties, as they are both composed of carbon atoms arranged in a crystal lattice structure. However, there are key differences between the two, primarily in their origin and the processes involved in their formation.

Origin

Origin

Natural Diamonds

Form naturally deep within the Earth's mantle over an extended period (millions to billions of years) through a combination of heat and pressure. They are brought to the Earth's surface through volcanic eruptions.

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Created in a controlled environment using one of two primary methods: High Pressure
High Temperature (HPHT) or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). These methods mimic the conditions under which natural diamonds are formed.

Formation Time

Formation Time

Natural Diamonds

Require an extended period, often millions to billions of years, to form under the Earth's geological processes.

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Can be produced in a matter of weeks to a few months, depending on the method used.

Environmental Impact

Environmental Impact

Natural Diamonds

Mining natural diamonds can have environmental impacts, including habitat disruption, soil erosion, and carbon emissions from mining operations.

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Generally considered more environmentally friendly, especially if produced using energy-efficient methods. They can be seen as a sustainable and ethical alternative to mined diamonds.

Cost

Cost

Natural Diamonds

Often more expensive, with the price influenced by factors like carat weight, cut, colour, and clarity, as well as the rarity of certain characteristics.

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Generally, more affordable than natural diamonds, although the price can vary based on factors such as size, quality, and manufacturing method.

The 4 C's

The 4 C's

Colour and Clairy

Colour:

Diamonds come in various colours, from colourless to yellow or even fancy colours like pink or blue. The colour scale starts with D (colourless) and goes down to Z (light yellow or brown). The less colour a diamond has, the higher its value tends to be.

Clarity:

This refers to the presence of any internal or external flaws in the diamond, called inclusions and blemishes, respectively. The clarity grade ranges from Flawless (no inclusions or blemishes visible under 10x magnification) to Included (inclusions and/or blemishes visible to the naked eye).

Cut and Carat Weigh

Cut:

The cut of a diamond refers to it's proportions, symmetry, and polish. A well-cut diamond reflects light brilliantly, maximizing its sparkle and beauty.

Carat Weight:

This refers to the weight of the diamond, measured in carats. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams. Larger diamonds typically have a higher carat weight.

Both natural and lab-grown diamonds have their own market and appeal. Some people prefer the traditional allure and geological uniqueness of natural diamonds, while others are drawn to the cost, ethical and environmental considerations associated with lab-grown diamonds.
